I'm the kind of person who doesn't write reviews about the places I visit, however, Mosvold Villa is a different place. From the first contact with Mr Dinesh until... read more the moment of departure, everything went perfectly. The hotel is small and very intimate, it's like being at home. The rooms are very spacious, refined, clean and with all the amenities, with an incredible view over the beach. For our stay we have chosen half board and I can say that the Chef has always prepared the best food you will taste in Sri Lanka. For those who are surfers like us and want to enjoy the best spots, there is no better place. We appreciate all the care and attention given by Mr Dinesh, Shafraz and the entire team. Hope to return soon

I stayed here for two nights at the end of my trip for a final chance of some much needed rest and relaxation, without any plans other than to enjoy... read more this stunning hotel and it’s facilities for 48 hours.
Looks like I got exactly what I was after and then some. This perfectly manicured estate is great for those who are looking for that subtle refinement in the most picturesque of settings. I found the room rates to be extremely good value considering the level of property, service and rooms available. The moment you step foot on the premise you know you’re in for something rather special, with the beautiful entrance garden with fishes and full of colourful wild exotic flowers throughout.
The lobby is traditional yet elegant having unique local art pieces to marvel (my favourite being the masked sculptures by the entrance) with views to the star attraction the substantial green gardens with large swathing palm trees that Sri Lanka is so famous for and the most inviting pool taking center stage. The cute little outdoor dining spot has so many options yo choose from eastern to western, I tried a lot of the dishes and all very tasty, with the most notable for me being the tiger prawns!
What makes this place so special is the tranquility and privacy you get from staying here and the wonderfully friendly staff who are at your beckoning call whenever needed, without being intrusive. I even asked for king coconuts and they got them specially delivered in for me, just to make sure I was happy. Also try the mango and pineapple juice by the pool, perfectly chilled and all natural, so refreshing on those hot days. All the staff are great, Ishaan in particular though I really gelled with, he was super friendly and was always up for a chat as I was travelling solo, he even offered to take some pics for me, made me feel right at home.
My room was spacious with gorgeous views to the pool and sea, the sunsets right on your doorstep, they are some of the the most incredible I’ve ever come across on my travels, I’ve attached some pics to show you what I mean. The upstairs seating area is also another beautifully designed space curated to perfection and great for some nice pics! In fact the whole premise has ample opportunities for those perfect instagram worthy shots if you wish to do so!
If you’re after that top notch boutique hotel experience, with traditional Srilanka charm, hospitality and excellent food then look no further!
I was very sad to say goodbye to Sandara, but I’ll certainly be returning for longer next time too!!

We stayed at Sundara for 5 days and wished we could have extended it for longer. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and we are already... read more planning when we can come back. The service was astounding and the food was delicious (especially all the seafood and local cuisines). The hotel itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere - one of the best aspects is how you can walk straight onto the beach to catch some spectacular sunsets. If you need a place to completely unwind and feel rejuvenated again, this is the hotel to stay at!

We absolutely loved our 13 nights stay in Sundara by Mosvold. The private villa was perfect for our family of 4. 2 bedrooms with comfy beds and good quality bathroom... read more amenities. We loved our pool. Every day saw interesting animals in our yard, exciting!
Our butler Hassan almost became like a friend, he could be dream for every hotel, so friendly and always fulfilling customers dreams.
Housekeeper also could not be better, he was perfect!
Food was sometimes good, sometimes very good but sometimes disappointing. Barramundi fish is absolutuley the best. We loved Sri Lanka'n yoghurt!
Chefs should not be afraid to use spicies. We westerns love spicy food! NYE dinner was very expensive and disappointment. Sparkling wine not good at all.
Beach was very beautiful, BUT there was a lot of rubbish(plastic) which should be cleaned regurarly.
We also had too often problems with wifi.
In the mornings too much of noise behind our bedroom.
General experience very good. We think it might be one of the best hotels in country.
